Local animal shelters at alltime low during COVID19 outbreak
Fifteen years ago in March, Dennise McIntyre was invited to the first Animal Rescue Committee of Slave Lake (ARC) meeting. It wasn't called that yet. It was just a group of people who thought they should get together to discuss ways to help the Town of Slave Lake improve the pound and find homes for dogs.

The Animal Rescue Committee of Slave Lake held its latest adoption day and it led to six animals finding forever homes. Committee chairperson Dennise McIntyre says that two out of the six animals were cats and the other four were dogs. She calls the event a success overall as a lot of people turned up to see the animals. "It was nice," she says.
